The Government Actuary’s Department published the 8th Edition of the Ogden Tables on 17 July 2020.  You can download these documents here

The website also includes downloadable versions of the Tables in both .pdf and Excel format.

The tables are based on updated mortality data showing that life expectancies have been increasing at a slower rate. This results in reductions in multipliers; the variation depends upon the age of an individual claimant but, on average, multipliers are around 1 - 2% lower for older claimants.

The explanatory notes have been updated and additional tables have been inserted to cover losses to / from age 68 years (i.e. normal state pension age) (see new tables 11-12 and 27-28). In addition, new tables have been included for losses to/from age 80 years (see new tables 17-18 and 33-34). What were Tables 27 and 28 are now Tables 35 and 36.

We will be commenting on the practical impact of these changes in a subsequent article.
