My career began with defendant motor claims as a Paralegal, where I cut my teeth on low-value cases before moving into fast-track injury work across motor, employer liability, and public liability. These early years were foundational by sharpening my skills in communication, time management, and commercial awareness.
While working full-time, I completed my LPC during evenings and weekends - a tough but rewarding path that gave me both academic grounding and hands-on experience. After qualifying in 2006, I found my niche in property damage claims, particularly tree root subsidence, and later developed a keen interest in legal costs. That passion led to a promotion to Associate, where I led a team focused on cost recoveries under CCFA arrangements.
In 2015, I stepped into a Partner role, eventually heading up recoveries across multiple lines, property, motor, enforcement, travel, and casualty. Always eager to grow, I pursued a Graduate Diploma in Applied Management at Warwick Business School, graduating in 2022. Balancing studies with the demands of my day job during the pandemic was hard work, but it gave me practical tools to tackle real-world business challenges.
Now at Keoghs, I focus on property recoveries across a range of perils - fire, impact, escape of water, and accidental damage. In a climate of rising claims inflation, recoveries are more critical than ever. I work closely with clients to streamline the end-to-end process, increase receipts, and reduce cycle times - ultimately improving cash flow and operational resilience.
My personal mission is simple: to inspire others to reach their full potential. The most fulfilling part of my job is watching people grow - whether it’s securing a great case result, exceeding their KPIs, earning a qualification, or a promotion.
I also thrive on building strong partnerships with clients. Understanding their business inside and out allows me to align our recovery strategies with their broader goals, creating real, measurable impact.
We’re at a pivotal moment in insurance. Technology is reshaping everything; from how we process claims to how we engage with clients. But innovation for innovation’s sake is a trap. The real challenge is ensuring that tech delivers tangible value: faster processes, better outcomes, and enhanced customer journeys.
A smart tech strategy is essential, but we must remember we’re a people-first industry. Technology should empower legal professionals to focus on high value, intellectually stimulating work, while automation handles the repetitive tasks. Generative AI holds enormous promise. While we’re still exploring its full potential, the future is bright. At Keoghs, our Legal AI tool, Lauri, is already making waves in this space.
Life outside work is just as full. I have two teenage children who keep me on my toes. When one of them mentioned that they “ate it all up and left no crumbs” on a school test I had to Google it to understand what they meant! I’ve also laced up my football boots again, finding it a great way to stay fit and connect with friends.
I’m passionate about supporting young people and serve as vice chair on the governing board of a local school.
And for a fun fact - I’m an identical twin, which has led to more than a few cases of mistaken identity over the years!
