David has over 19 years of experience handling a wide variety of casualty claims. His core specialisms include workplace accidents, occupiers’ liability claims and industrial disease. David now leads one of the largest dedicated casualty teams in Scotland alongside partner Eoin Quinn and 5 specialist lawyers
David is a highly regarded solicitor advocate with rights of audience in Scotland’s highest civil courts. He regularly appears in the Court of Session and the All-Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court (ASPIC) and has an excellent track record. David also conducts advocacy and pre-trial meetings for the wider team. In this last year, David has represented clients at the Inner House and Sheriff Appeal Court as set out in several cases studies provided with this submission. He has also been at the forefront of strategic litigation for defender insurer clients around the new regime of Qualified One-Way Costs Shifting in Scotland, with the result that he has been invited to speak at industry conferences on the subject.
David provides a high level of additional support for clients including training seminars, guidance documents and mock trials. He is also very active in promoting his clients’ interests in the market. He is a key contributor to the work of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers in Scotland and is shortly due to be appointed Deputy Chair, a role which will see David take up the Scottish Chair position in 2026/27.
