David is a partner in our industry‑leading abuse team, based in our Glasgow office. He has over 15 years’ experience in the insurance litigation sector. Having previously specialised in disease claims resolution, his practice now focuses exclusively on non‑recent and contemporaneous abuse litigation.
David has acted for the majority of legacy insurers and reinsurers in the UK market and has an in‑depth understanding of both the legal framework and the practical realities of claims handling in this area. His work predominantly involves defending high‑value historical abuse claims on behalf of major insurers, local authorities, religious organisations, and charities. He is widely recognised within the legacy market and the wider legal community as an expert in this field.
In addition, David has represented organisations at the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry and advises on contemporaneous abuse matters and modern‑day safeguarding issues.
David previously served as a representative of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers’ Scotland Disease Special Interest Group.
