Rhys specialises in catastrophic and large loss personal injury claims for defendant insurers and run off agents. He has a particular interest in cases involving tricky causation arguments; traumatic brain injury and chronic pain and his portfolio ranges from sub-catastrophic injury to claims with reserves in the millions.
Rhys is involved in leading complex and technical motor policy and coverage disputes. He is a trusted advisor to senior handlers at many insurance companies in dealing with the most sophisticated problems in high profile and sensitive cases. He also leads our Indemnity Special Interest Group and is regularly instructed by senior colleagues to provide consultative input and/or to assume day to day conduct of technical indemnity arguments in cases which run into the tens of millions.
Rhys is well respected throughout the industry for taking a pragmatic approach to cases, whilst being very robust when required. He has an eye for detail, pragmatism and commerciality and is also praised for his ability to distil very complex information in a way which makes the issues easy to grasp.
