Mentoring and support from across the business has enabled Scott to steer his career in the way he wanted. Now a Partner in our Property Risks and Coverage team, Scott tells us about his journey.
“I joined Keoghs in 2009 as a newly qualified solicitor having never practised insurance law before. I have received mentoring and support from people across the business which has allowed me to steer my career in the way I have wanted to. I was promoted to Associate in 2013 and Partner in 2019. I have been given the freedom to develop my own legal specialism based on what interests me, whilst having guidance and direction from my colleagues. I decided early on that I wanted to specialise in policy coverage and I have been able to build a profile in the insurance market as a specialist in this area.”
“What I love about my job is the variety because as well as policy coverage, I still get to handle a range of defended liability claims arising out of various events such as fires and floods. One day I might be on a site visit inspecting a flooded building and advising on liability in an escape of water case and the next I might be at a conference with counsel in London advising on a policy coverage issue, often with a client social event afterwards!"
