Women at Keoghs recognised in local inspirational awards

Two solicitors from Keoghs have been named amongst the most inspirational in Bolton at the 2018 Inspire Women Awards.

Nina Dayal and Angeli Vadera were both successfully shortlisted in multiple award categories, with Angeli going on to win the Inspire Women in Law award.

The awards seek to celebrate the huge contributions women have made to the wider Bolton area and highlight the achievements of women from all walks of life and professions. This year there were over 500 nominations across the awards, meaning that the level of competition was extremely high.

Angeli was set apart from the rest due to her interest in diversity and equality, as well as her voluntary work. In 2012 she took on the role of pro-bono officer with the Hindu Lawyers Association (HLA), and after founding the first legal guide to Hindu community centres, she went on to become chair of the HLA. Angeli also sits on the Ethnic Minority Law Division at the Law Society, and has been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to present her views on women’s rights and the relationship between the UK-Indian legal industry in the House of Lords.

The award nomination process involved a detailed submission complete with reasoning as to why you should win the award, followed by a Q&A with the judging panel. The shortlist was then announced and the winners were revealed at a lavish ceremony held on Saturday 5^th May at BWFC Whites Suite.

Angeli is a solicitor in the commercial litigation team in the Bolton office. She started her career in the department as a paralegal, successfully obtaining a training contract in 2015. Heather Ford who is a partner in the department and Angeli’s immediate supervisor was delighted with Angeli’s award saying:
