Matt was a founding partner of our Southampton Office which he leads. He specialises in the defence of catastrophic injury claims and is almost exclusively instructed in disputes with values exceeding 8 figures, with many exceeding £20,000,000. Matt’s practice involves the full spectrum of disputes and issues in the defence field, including complex indemnity issues, contribution and/or indemnity claims, liability disputes (an area in which Matt has considerable Trial experience, including ex Turpi defences), causation issues (including ‘novus actus’ issues), large interim payment disputes, periodical payments and reverse indemnities (and indemnities alone), predominantly following brain and spinal cord injuries suffered by adults and children.
Matt is regarded as a market-leading figure in the field of defendant/insurer funded complex and catastrophic injury claims and sits on the Keoghs strategy and sales teams. He also manages the accounts of a number of the ‘top 10’ UK general insurers, who he also advises on a market and strategic level.
