Welcome to the fifth issue of Credit Hire AWARE. Since the last edition I am delighted to say that Keoghs’ credit hire unit won the award for Legal Partner of the Year at the Insurance Times Claims Excellence awards. It is a real testament to all the hard work the unit have put in over the last year or so and shows that our clients understand what we are trying to achieve and fully support and work with us.
It’s been a busy quarter with lots of changes afoot, not least with the CMA publishing its recommendations. John Gibson’s review of the quarter provides insight into what those recommendations are and what they might mean in practical terms. We also have not one, but two guest articles this month. Barrister James Cullen from Linenhall Chambers - with whom we have worked closely on a number of strategies - provides an overview of the recent decision in Stevens v Equity and Steve Perry from HP Consultants discusses the potential benefits of data sharing.
In addition, we also have Fraser McAndry’s review of our recent Credit Hire Fraud Seminar - which was extremely well received. We are planning another event later in the year so watch this space.
Finally from me, you have the ‘techy’ bits – a number of updates on caselaw and regulations covering; consumer rights, portal behaviours, taxi claims and the impact of admissions. I hope you enjoy this latest edition – happy reading!
