Welcome to the first issue of Keoghs Disease Aware – a new publication that aims to cover issues concerning industrial disease litigation over a wide-range of topics.
There was much wrestling with the title – indeed it was probably the most challenging aspect of the inaugural issue. Eventually we decided on ‘Aware’. It encapsulates what we are striving to achieve with this publication – an awareness of the issues facing both the insurance and legal industries in this exciting and often changing sphere and, perhaps more importantly, an awareness of how to face those challenges, both now and in the future.
This publication will be different from some of its rival titles. Not only will a concise summary of legal developments be provided, but each article will also identify and provide clear views on how best to respond to such developments.
This first issue is timed to coincide with Keoghs’ annual Disease Conference, held this year at the Mayfair Hotel in London. A lot of the topics deliberately overlap some of the matters being tackled head-on at this year’s conference and I sincerely hope, for those reading this publication, you find it both informative and interesting.
It only remains for me to thank my co-editors, the members of our editorial board, and all the authors who have willingly given up their time, for their tremendous help in preparing this inaugural issue.
