Disease Aware Issue 4

Welcome to Issue 4 of Keoghs’ regular Disease AWARE magazine.

2014 will be a year of great change in disease litigation. As the Jackson reforms begin to bite, the outcome of IEG Limited v Zurich Insurance looms on the horizon. Here at Keoghs, we have continued to turn our minds to developing effective strategies to respond to the new demands of litigation and this edition of Disease AWARE is a great illustration of our approach.

A range of topics are covered, from repetitive back claims to a consideration of the interaction between the TUPE Regulations and the 1978 Contributions Act. The article on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and the approach that should be adopted to those claims is a possible precursor to arguments that might be raised in higher value claims.

Yet again, the contributors to Disease Aware are from a cross-section of the team, from assistant solicitors to partners and an indication, I believe, of the depth of talent within the unit. This talent was recently recognised at the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards, where Keoghs’ Disease Team once again won the Defendant Personal Injury Team of the Year, whilst our own Helen Tinsley and David Pugh won Young Achiever of the Year and Defendant Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year respectively.
