James Heath elected as president of FOIL

Keoghs partner, James Heath, has been elected by The Forum of Insurance Lawyers as its new president, succeeding Citygate Chambers’ barrister, Stephen Hines.

Since helping establish Keoghs’ counter-fraud division two decades ago, James has been instrumental in the development and growth of the firm’s fraud practice whilst he also currently holds the position of Keoghs COLP.   

His election as FOIL president is a recognition of his continuing high profile work in the insurance fraud sector, and his pivotal role in maintaining Keoghs’ reputation throughout the industry, including a long term position on the Insurance Fraud Investigators Group (IFIG) management board.

James was delighted to accept the role, saying;

“The Foil presidency is a prestigious honour, and it has never been a more interesting time to take up the reins with the prospect of Brexit on the horizon.

 “In taking over the presidential baton from Stephen Hines, I see the core challenge as one of continuity – building on the strong and positive engagement that Foil has delivered over the last 12 months.

“Whilst issues arising from Brexit and the Civil Liability Bill will be front and centre, Foil’s span of engagement and influence is so wide now that I look forward to working closely with the national executive, London Foil executive and sector focus teams to continue driving Foil’s message and the Foil standard.

The regulatory change we hope to see over the next year will be complemented by a Foil which is adapting and evolving to meet the demands of the markets it engages in.”

Highlighting his efforts further, James won the prestigious Achievement Award at last month’s Insurance Fraud Awards for going ‘above and beyond’ throughout his career.

James works tirelessly with a wide range of insurers and clients, continuing to help them define, implement and advise on their counter-fraud strategies.
