Keoghs credit hire team expands North

The credit hire team welcomed several new members in 2017, including partners Douglas Cowan and Emily Jeffrey, who bring with them experience of credit hire claims in the Scottish market.

Keoghs Scotland LLP opened for business in April 2017. Since opening, Emily Jeffrey and Douglas Cowan have been working with our clients on their Scottish motor strategies to align them with those in England and Wales, whilst ensuring these strategies are tailored to the Scottish civil procedure rules. In addition to tailoring their existing strategies, Keoghs Scotland have also been working closely with clients to ensure that their strategies are future-proofed against changes in the Scottish legal market, including the introduction of the Civil Litigation (Expenses and Group Proceedings) Scotland Bill.

Douglas is a law society accredited specialist having worked in Insurance litigation throughout his 20 year career. He has managed teams undertaking high volume claims including credit hire and fraud, both in-house and on an outsourced basis. He works with insurers on medium and long term goals using his extensive knowledge of the market in Scotland.

Emily has worked in insurance litigation for over 12 years. She is an Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist and handles all values of Scottish insurance claims, both pre and post- litigation, with a particular focus on motor personal injury and credit hire. Emily has a particular interest in the defence of fraudulent claims, including those involving organised crime, exaggeration, LSI and staged accidents. She works closely with her insurer clients to ensure that their counter-fraud strategies are in line with Scottish market trends.
