Leading defendant law firm, Keoghs, has welcomed two new partners to its fledgling Scottish team.
Emily Jeffrey and David Hennessy join from Brodies, taking the total number of partners at Keoghs’ new Glasgow office to four. This follows the arrival of Douglas Cowan who spearheaded the top 100 law firm’s Scotland expansion in April.
Emily, an accredited counter-fraud specialist, will head up the Keoghs counter-fraud team in Scotland. She brings a wealth of experience in developing and implementing strategies for insurers across a range of fraud types; from low velocity impact, rings and exaggerated claims through to late notification, credit hire and phantom passengers.
David brings front line advocacy experience to claims resolution, with core specialisms in disease, liability claims and health and safety. He has acted for insurers and self-insured corporate clients for over 10 years, and has established an excellent track record; a recent highlight being the successful defence of an employers’ liability stair fall case and the first published decision of its kind in the All Scotland Personal Injury Court.
Keoghs Chief Executive, John Whittle commented on the appointments, saying;
“We have already received an overwhelmingly positive response from clients to our new Glasgow office. With Emily and David joining the team, we are building an exceptional foundation from which to achieve our aim of becoming Scotland’s leading provider of legal and claims related services to the insurance industry.”
Emily Jeffrey stated;
“Keoghs is renowned throughout the industry for innovative and effective strategies in the field of insurance counter-fraud. This is an extremely exciting opportunity, both personally and for the firm, to extend that excellence into the Scottish market.”
David Hennessy added;
“I am delighted to have joined Keoghs at such a key period, and look forward to aiding the firm’s ambitious plans for the future. We are fully intent on providing a market leading range of services to our Scottish clients whilst also providing relevant support to colleagues across the UK.”
Additionally, since its Scotland launch in April, Keoghs has been busy joining various associations to complement its expanded shipping support. Keoghs is now a proud member of the British Ports Association, Port Skills and Safety, and the Scottish Shipping Benevolent Association, helping the firm remain at the forefront of the maritime industry’s defendant legal requirements.
