House of Commons International Development Committee publishes report on sexual exploitation and abuse in the aid sector
Due to the large number of child and vulnerable adult sexual abuse allegations coming to light concerning UK-based charities operating abroad and dating back to the early 2000s, MPs have produced a report outlining their grave concerns*. This report calls for a register of workers and a specialised ombudsman for the overseas aid sector.

Out of your Control: The expanding limits of vicarious liability - Natasha Armes v Nottinghamshire County Council
The Supreme Court last week handed down judgment in Armes v Nottinghamshire County Council, an Appeal considering whether vicarious liability might attach to a local authority in relation to intentional acts of abuse by a foster parent, towards a foster child.
On the 2 February 2017 the Court of Appeal handed down their judgment in Crawley v Barnsley MBC  EWCA Civ 36 which places a further burden on already limited local authority resources.
